About Us

For almost 300 years The Goat Hotel has provided lodging for travellers. Originally a coaching inn during the 17th century, at the junction of the Shrewsbury to Aberystwyth and Cardiff to Chester routes; today’s travellers still arrive to find traditional hospitality and a warm welcome.

The Goat has been personally run by Richard and Alyson for over thirty years and has a reputation for excellent food, well kept real ales and comfortable accommodation.

Enjoy a glass or two from our selection of fine ales and wines. We are recommended by the CAMRA guide and you might like to try a real Welsh Ale or one of our changing guest beers from a local border brewery. In our homely lounge bar you can curl up in a large leather sofa in front of our roaring log fire during the winter months

We are known far afield for the excellent quality and range of meals we serve. Our restaurant offers a selection of locally produced steak and lamb dishes with an interesting selection of starters and some irresistible puddings. Our Menu features many of our homemade favorites, made with a liberal splash of brandy or our try our very own recipe for Honey and Mustard Baked Ham.
